Retirement Tribute Video Celebrating GRSM Co-Founder
Overview
- Project: Retirement Tribute Video
- Client: Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani (GRSM)
- Category: Tribute / Brand Storytelling
- Sub-Category: Executive & Legacy Video
- Location: San Francisco
When Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani (GRSM) set out to honor co-founder Stuart Gordon's retirement after 50 years, the firm needed more than a commemorative gesture. It needed a retirement tribute video that felt personal, preserved the firm's institutional memory, and could anchor a major internal event as its emotional centerpiece.
The Challenge
Stuart Gordon co-founded GRSM alongside Donald Rees and spent five decades shaping the firm's culture, values, and growth. His retirement wasn't just a personnel milestone. It was the closing of a defining chapter in the firm's history.
GRSM needed a video that could do several things at once:
- Capture 50 years of leadership and personal relationships in a concise, watchable format
- Resonate emotionally with Stuart, his family, longtime colleagues, and newer firm members
- Serve as the centerpiece of the firm's holiday celebration, not just a background element
- Live on as a lasting keepsake beyond the event itself
The challenge wasn't production logistics. It was earning the kind of trust and openness that makes a tribute feel real rather than rehearsed.
Our Approach
JSB Video worked closely with GRSM to build a story rooted in authenticity, memory, and the specific texture of Stuart's leadership. Our documentary-style approach to corporate video meant starting with the right questions before we ever picked up a camera.
On-Location Filming
Filming took place at Stuart's home in San Francisco, a deliberate choice. A familiar, personal setting invites more candid reflection than a conference room or studio ever could. Stuart spoke openly about founding the firm with Donald Rees, the early challenges they navigated together, and the values that became the backbone of GRSM's culture: integrity, collaboration, and camaraderie.
Archival Integration & Post-Production
We wove archival photographs spanning the firm's history into the edit, including a particularly meaningful image of Stuart and Don Rees together. In post-production, the focus was on emotional pacing: pairing Stuart's reflections with carefully selected visuals and a subtle score that supported the story without overshadowing it.
The result was a 3-5 minute executive legacy video that felt intimate and grounded, not polished for the sake of polish.
The Result
The tribute premiered at GRSM's holiday celebration and became the emotional high point of the evening. Stuart was deeply moved by the final piece. The inclusion of Don Rees' legacy resonated strongly with his family, adding an unexpected layer of meaning that extended well beyond the original brief.
What the video accomplished:
- Became the emotional centerpiece of a firm-wide event
- Honored a 50-year legacy in a format colleagues and family could carry forward
- Preserved institutional memory in a way that written tributes rarely achieve
- Strengthened firm culture by reflecting its founding values back to the people who live them
For organizations planning milestone events, retirement videos like this do more than honor one person. They reinforce culture, recognize leadership, and give an entire team a shared moment to carry forward. That's the strategic case for corporate storytelling video at moments like this.
"Despite a tight deadline, Jordan delivered a video that exceeded all expectations. It's a keepsake we'll treasure for years to come."

"My sister and I will cherish Stu's words for the rest of our lives."
